Virgin Mobile has officially launched the Samsung Galaxy 550, an android-powered handset running on OS 2.1 Eclair. The Galaxy 550 features a 2.8" (320x240) touch screen display, 600MHz processor, and a 2MP camera. Coming with Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity, this new device can carry up to 16GB via microSD card. The Samsung Galaxy 550 is officially available from Virgin Mobile for free on a 3 year term/SuperTab, or $199.99 contract-free. Unfortunately there's no word yet on whether this handset will be updated to future versions of Android.
