It looks like Fido is preparing to launch their first Android handset - the Acer Liquid E. This device will launch running Android 2.1 Eclair, but will apparently get the update as soon as the software is made available. Typically, newer Android OS versions are released on a staggered basis from different carriers due to internal testing procedures, but it looks like the Liquid E won't see the delay like other handsets (X10, Magic +, etc).
The Liquid E features a 3.5" (480 x 800) display, 5MP camera, and all of your standard connectivity options including 3G, Wi-Fi, bluetooth, and GPS. It is expected to launch on Wednesday, September 29th for $50 on a 3 year term, or $350 contract-free, and is a great Android handset for those looking for a balance between affordability and features.
