There is a new BlackBerry coming out, and it's unlike any you've ever seen. Featuring a full touch screen and vertical sliding QWERTY keyboard, this new design has new software to accompany it. Coming with BlackBerry 6, RIM's new operating system, the user-interface is redesigned and features multiple improvements. Among the upgrades, is the new WebKit browser that is considerably faster than the existing BlackBerry browser, and is almost as fast as the iPhone 4 and Samsung Captivate. It also has a new Media menu that is similar to Apple's CoverFlow, and makes navigating much easier. From a hardware perspective, this new device features a normal touch screen that doesn't click, so those disappointed with the Storm line-up should not discount this handset. It also features a 5MP camera, 4GB of built in memory, and 512MB of RAM. Lastly, it supports HSPA, GPS, and Wi-Fi connectivity so you can get the most our of your mobile device.

Since RIM's announcement of the BlackBerry Torch 9800, Rogers, Bell, telus, and Virgin Mobile have all confirmed that they will be carrying the device. Rogers states it will be launching "in coming weeks", while telus simply advertises the launch for "this year", and Bell is saying sometime this fall. Virgin Mobile just says "Coming soon", adding to the list of vague launch date details. A few weeks back, a small rumour circulated the internet that Rogers might get the device exclusively for a month or two, and it seems unlikely that Canadian company RIM would hold off in Canada. It will be interesting to see how all of this pans out, but the BlackBerry Torch 9800 is definitely a device to look out for. No exact details on pricing, though AT&T will be launching it on August 12th for $199 on a 2 year contract.
